livro-da-diaspora-stuart-hall-D_NQ_NP_541411-MLB20542141839_012016-F.jpg

During  this week  reading, we have go thought the Chapter one of “The Work of Representation” written by Stuart Hall. Representation means language to culture. It means using language to say something meaningful or to represent the meaningful world to others. In representation, there are include three of the theories. It includes : the reflective, the intentional and the constructionist approaches. It also developed two representation systems, Language and Metal representation.

Three theories of Representation

Reflective

  • Thought to lie in the object and language mirrors/reflects its meaning
  • “Language works by simply reflecting or imitating the truth that is already there”.

Intentional

  • The speaker attaches some meaning to the object such as emotion or though in it
  • Words can be mean by what the author wants them to mean
  • Language is a shared, public construction. The meaning never be entirely constructed by the author
  • It depends on the share code

Constructionist

  • Objects doesn’t mean anything until we create a meaning for them.
  • Things exist but don’t have a meaning until they enter our system of representation.

Two Representation systems

Language

  • Language is a physical way to represent things
  • It’s made up of signs (Image, sound, code, words, symbols).

Mental Representation

  • All the things are connected to our believes and cultures.
  • People share their views of the world by communicating with others.

Week 5 :Creative Project Proposal

During this week, I am starting to explore the idea of my  project. Afterward, I just think about what I want to show on my photo. When I doing the search on the intent and I have think out the idea of using black and white to present about”Loneliness”. The reason of me to chose this topic is because I think everyone got a loneliness moment and we can being happy all the time. People can experience loneliness for many reasons. Therefore I like to take some of the photos of them and show out that different types of loneliness.

The style on my set of photo will my street-style and let’s try to catch their back or face emotion to back the people who watch my photo can feel the loneliness of them. And those of the photo I got inspired .

IMG-20160826-WA0011.jpg .      When we are  being a photographer, we always want to take much photo as we can. But when we back to home to do the select and  edit of the photo, we may think about some of the points.

  • Exposure
  • Focus
  • Resolution required or desired
  • Required aspect ratios and final display method
  • Blurring
  • Composition and rule(s) of thirds
  • Tonal spectrum/histogram
  • Colour

Series criteria

– Consistency
– Pattern
– Story
– Repetition

SB-800

When we are doing some of the photo shooting, the environment are not enough light to do the shooting so we may think of using a flash light to make sure the shooting environment can have enough light for doing the shoot .
dsc_0424-nef2.jpg
This is the wrong example of using the flashlight because it is not light enough of the object
dsc_0425-nef1.jpg
This one is susseful of usong the flash light because as we can see the logo is bright and the background is dark.

Week 4 Photography Reading : The Spectacle of the Other – Stuart Hall

9780674976528_200x_the-fateful-triangle.jpeg

During this week, we are having some of thee reading of Stuart Hall” The Spectacle of the other”. When I have finished this week of reading, I have find out some of the point quite interesting  and  useful.

  • He start the book by using a question”How can we can we represent a group of people who are different from us?”
  • Even we look at the same picture but it can be completely different  with the meaning between people
  • Except the concept of difference in race, there are still an element of sexuality and gender.
  • “Difference” can be something positive or something negative.
  • The example of magazine  cover for the Sunday Times from 1988 depicting track runners called “Heroes and Villains”
  • there are much example of race in advertising and photography through the  history. And Hall is more focusing on race and gender

In the reading, I realized that how the idea of “Others” can be work out. It may depends on what is your concept of that things and what are you asking for.It can also inspire me when I looking other peoples work and think deeply.

Week 3 : Indoor Photo Shoot

During this weak, we still got a chance to use D7000 to do some of the test shot between our classmate and we are having fun of it. and i would like to show some of the test shot below ands choose two of it to doing some of the description of those two.

Selected of the lesson :

IMG_9469.JPG

In this photo, we can imagine what kind of things of the girl are shooting with and I like to make the background darker because  it can make different layers of light in the photo. We can find out form the left hand side is darker and the right hand side is brighter. Which make the photo become more directionality.

IMG_9474.JPG

In this photo , we can see the girl are sitting on the chair and holding a camera on the her hands. Which make me feel she is finish her photo shoot of the lesson and want to have a set to take a rest. The reason I chose this photo because she was just looking outside and day dreaming and the the colour tone was toned by Adobe Lightroom and hope that feel more “Japanese Style”.
